**Puppets** are [[technology:avatar|avatared]] programs intended for human interaction. Typically, the term is applied exclusively to such programs: * found on the internet * mode of interaction is speech or gestures * avatar is recognisably a living entity Programmers may refer to entirely passive interactive items as Puppets, too, though those keen on unambiguous communication will avoid this.
