A **simulation** is a distinguished sub-set of a server's //immersive environment//.

Basically, just as a single server can run several websites in this day and age (e.g. [[http://wildcard.thorngale.net|Wildcard]] and [[http://sehto.pinkgothic.com|Sehto]] both running on the same physical machine in different folders), a server serving immersive environments may have several wholly independent worlds available.

In [[:Sanctuary]] and many other multi-simulation hosts, the term [[Sanctuary:Fragment]] is also used.
